My inspiration for this film came in the last year of my time in the desert. I was working and living in an Aboriginal community west of Alice Springs. I had come to know the desert well. The red ochre sand and hot dry air had been absorbed though every pore of my skin, taken in by every breath I breathed. It had become a part of me, I, a part of it.

With a people warm of heart and so generous of spirit, I was at home. Here family ties are strong and respected, the threads of kith and kin run deep.  Connection, care, and ancestral obligation has shaped their understanding of life.  Belonging is woven into a deep relationship with country, one of love, respect and reciprocity. This I came to know well.

In the desert and such places of remoteness there is a sense of spaciousness and stillness, where one can hear the whispers of the land and the Spirit of Life speak. The words spoken in this film came to me in such a way. They came as a call to humanity, a prayer … that we remember the Way to live harmoniously, caring for each other, caring for our earth. Some 8 years later, having given voice to this Call, this prayer every morning, I felt the need to share it, to bring it to life, and what better way than by the marrying of spoken word, music and film.

May seeds be planted where awareness needs to grow.
